ABOUT

Gamesburger is a new collaboration between old friends. Nyssa Collins and Katie Rebich join creative forces to blend puppetry and physical theater for what is probably the first time in the Triangle area between two native artists. Their collaborative artistic voice speaks simply on the virtue of play and following its lead.  Sometimes it leads to a place of whimsy, and other times somewhere darker.

Gamesburger aims to display the naked roots of what we all have in common; We want to be loved, eat, and poop.

Katie Rebich is an internationally experienced circus coach and performer. She graduated from Aloft Circus Arts full time training program with a major in her unique apparatus, rope ladder, and minor in stilt acrobatics in 2014. Katie spent her time after school working in circus arts abroad and exploring the range of her artistic voice by highlighting the tiny nothings in life. Coming back to the US in 2016, she found that clown is her instrument of choice to allow for genuine human connection. Katie recently started a monthly gathering for contemporary clowns and physical theater practitioners, Clown Jam. As a teaching artist, Katie promotes literacy through circus with her Durham based aerial storytelling company, StoryUp!

Nyssa Collins is a musician, visual artist, and performer.  She has a degree in piano performance from Humboldt State University and has since worked as an accompanist and teacher in California, New York City, and North Carolina.  In Durham she plays for multiple area organizations and is a teacher with the nonprofit Kidznotes.  Nyssa is coming into her own as a visual artist.  She began painting for fun in college, and has been prolific as a painter, illustrator, papercutter, and cardboard sculptor ever since.  She has worked as a studio artist with Paperhand Puppet Intervention since 2017, and her work has been featured in many commissioned forms.  She is working furiously toward her first solo gallery show, and is developing multiple shadow puppet shows of the educational or fantastical nature.
